I got the chance to cover Hatebreed during their tour stop with Clutch and Dropkick Murphys on 09/24/2019 at the Redhat Amphitheater in Raleigh North Carolina.
Hatebreed is a metal band that formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They have released 7 studio albums and have an almost cult following of metal fans around the world. They are known for blending punk rock with hardcore metal to create their sound. Lead singer Jamey Jasta still sounds just as good as he did in the ’90s. He brings a lot of enthusiasm to the stage and his vocal performance is still spot on when playing some of the Hatebreed classics. Three of the bands founding members are still with the group including singer Jamey Jasta, lead guitarist Wayne Lozinak & bassist Chris Beattie while rhythm guitarist Frank Novinec (joined in 2006) and drummer Matt Byrne (joined 2001) finish out the lineup. I got to cover three songs and during the songs I covered they sounded great. There was a minor guitar issue that happened to Wayne during the opening song but it was quickly adjusted. The band seemed excited to be there and embraced the crowd with excitement and brought their A-game. Fans would sing back the lyrics every time Jamey pointed the mic at them. I can see why they are still one of the best metal bands out there.
